The UVALAL is a research team from the University of Valladolid (Spain) that is dedicated to studying bilingual acquisition. We take linguistic theory as a point of departure in the analysis of both spontaneous and experimental data from child simultaneous bilingualism (L1+L1), and child and adult sequential bilingualism (L1+L2).
The UVALAL was established in 2002 thanks to a research grant from the Department of Education and Culture of the Regional Government of Castile and León (Language teaching and teacher training strategies at the university level: theoretical and practical study of English/Spanish bilingual twins linguistic production [UV30/02], 2002-2004). In 2005 the UVALAL was officially launched as a GIR (Recognized Research Group).
